  • Authentic Dish Selection
  • Efficient Service

What people don't like
  • Questionable Tipping Practices
  • Inconsistent Food Quality
  • Uninviting Atmosphere

With a recommendation score of 6.8, Beijing presents itself as a place with potential, particularly if you prioritize specific, well-regarded dishes and efficient service. It’s a spot that could satisfy a craving for certain Chinese flavors, especially when seeking a quick meal with convenient parking.

However, be mindful of the service approach and the overall dining environment, which might not appeal to everyone. If you’re looking for a consistently authentic experience across the board or a cozy atmosphere, you might find it falls short.

Consider it for a practical, rather than a purely indulgent, meal.

Good Food, Worth a Return Visit
I pass by this place daily on my commute and have been wanting to try it out. My experience was positive overall. The food is good, and most of the servings are just right for the price. However, the Mongolian beef had an unbalanced onion to beef ratio. The shrimp fried rice was a bit bland, but the chow mein made up for it. The salt and pepper pork was spot on, though I think it would have been better with a sauce for dipping. Despite minor points, I'd come back.

Excellent Chinese with Diverse Options
My experience at this restaurant was very positive. It's one of the better/best Chinese restaurants in the area that I know of. I was impressed by the good variety of dishes that go beyond the typical southern Chinese offerings often found in the US. I highly recommend trying the eggs and tomatoes noodles, the beef pancake, the dough ball stir fry dishes, the chicken fried rice, the garlic pea sprouts, and the eggplant. I'm sure many other dishes are also good, as I haven't had the chance to try them all yet.

Authentic Beijing Flavors with a Minor Oil Issue
Beijing Restaurant delivers a truly satisfying Chinese dining experience! 🥢🔥 Their Kong Bao Chicken is splendid—perfectly balanced with heat, sweetness, and crunch, despite the oil being a bit too much 🐔🌶️. The beef is tender and flavorful, while the eggplant is silky and rich, soaking up all the delicious sauce. 🥩🍆 Every dish is thoughtfully prepared and bursting with authentic flavor. A must-try for lovers of classic Beijing-style cuisine! Five to six free parking spots next to the restaurant.

Delicious Soups, Rice Plates, and Great Value
I really enjoy their soups and Rice Plates. The menu is extensive, offering so many options, which allows us to try new things every time we visit. So far, everything we've tried has been delicious. The portions are also a good size, and we often have extra to take home. The service has been sufficient on every visit, and our food was prepared quickly. It was super satisfying!

Disappointing Change in Ownership
My experience at this restaurant has unfortunately declined significantly since the change in ownership. Previously, it was my favorite spot for authentic northern Chinese food in San Francisco, the go-to place for classic northern dishes. However, under the new ownership, it has transformed into just another below-average Cantonese restaurant. It's shocking that they continue to operate under the original name, Beijing Restaurant, as they clearly lack understanding in the kitchen, despite using the old menu. For instance, a dish I ordered, which was supposed to feature three types of meat, arrived with only two, and one was incorrect according to the menu description. To further attract customers, they've displayed photos of traditional northern Chinese dishes, but this is pointless when the food itself fails to deliver. It feels like a total scam.
