Verdict: Our expert take on Ladle & Leaf

Food (4 out of 10)

mentioned by 89% of the guests

When it comes to the food, there are a few glimmers of hope among the 8 positive remarks. Some found the prepacked pastries edible, and the vegetarian sandwiches were noted as pretty good. The pea soup even earned praise for being well-seasoned and worth reordering!

Despite an overall average score of 4 for food, these items suggest some potential. However, the 14 negative comments reveal a tougher truth. Many felt the food tasted really wrong, with quality going downhill, especially concerning wilted greens and bland, unseasoned chicken.

Small protein portions and a lack of good vegan options also disappointed, leading to a poor 36.4% customer satisfaction that really highlights areas for improvement.

Service (3.4 out of 10)

mentioned by 67% of the guests

While there are a couple of positive notes regarding service, like smooth delivery and staff being obliging even at closing, these are unfortunately rare. Out of 10 total comments, only 2 were positive, which contributes to a low overall score of 3.4. However, the majority of feedback, 8 out of 10 remarks, highlights significant challenges.

Many found order pickup difficult due to access building issues, often requiring a badge or asking for access. Customers also reported bad service and rude staff, making the experience feel not worth the time. This contributes to a poor customer satisfaction of just 20%, reflecting the general frustration.

Ambience (3 out of 10)

mentioned by 33% of the guests

The overall vibe, or Atmosphere, did get a nod from one reviewer, who rated it a 4 out of 5. However, with an overall score of just 3 and customer satisfaction at a low 33.3% based on 3 total comments, it seems the positive sentiment is quite limited. Unfortunately, the location seems to be a significant hurdle. Two comments specifically mentioned it being very hard to find to pick up my order and wishing it was in a better location.

This suggests that while the internal atmosphere might have some appeal, getting there is a real challenge.

Value (2 out of 10)

mentioned by 11% of the guests

When it comes to value, there arent any positive sentiments to report from the single opinion we have. It seems customers havent found anything particularly noteworthy or positive about the pricing or overall worth here. On the flip side, the feedback paints a pretty clear picture of dissatisfaction.

With a low score of just 2, which is considered poor, and customer satisfaction sitting at an equally poor 0%, its evident theres a significant issue. The main concern, based on 1 negative opinion, is that the establishment might be perceived as preying on students and faculty money. This suggests a feeling of exploitation rather than fair pricing.

Disappointing Meal and Small Portions
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. I was automatically served a tossed salad when I had no desire for it, which ruined a meal that was already going to cost upwards of $16. The portions of protein were small, and there was a lack of good, substantial vegan options. I believe the restaurant only survives by preying on students and faculty money due to its location. : (Service: 1/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Food: 2/5

Good food, difficult access
My experience was good, but picking up my order for non-students is very difficult. I found it hard to get inside the building because you need a badge to access it. I had to ask someone to let me in, which was both inconvenient and a security issue. I usually opt for delivery from here and haven't encountered any problems. However, I wish the location was better so I could pick up my order myself.

Disappointing Bland Chicken Chipotle Salad
My experience at the restaurant was disappointing, primarily due to the food. I ordered the chicken chipotle salad and found it to be the most bland salad I've ever had. The ratio of lettuce to toppings was extremely unbalanced, about 95/5. The chicken, which I suspect is pre-made and used for multiple dishes, lacked any seasoning and tasted very bad. I couldn't eat it.

Great Food, Tricky Location
My experience involved ordering online for pickup, but I encountered some difficulty reaching the location, unsure if a badge was required for access. However, the food itself was excellent. I ordered the Asian Chicken salad and pea soup, and both tasted great. The salad was filling with the chicken and edamame, and the split pea soup was seasoned very well. I will definitely order the soup again.
