Great Diner Experience!
My experience at this little diner was amazing! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the pancakes and coffee were great. I traveled all the way from Florida and ended up eating here for two mornings. The atmosphere was rated a 5, and the service was also a 5. The food quality was excellent, earning a 5-star rating. It was a quiet place, making it easy to talk, and there was no wait time. The price per person was between $10–20.

Disappointing Service at The Cove
My recent visit to *The Cove* in the Castro was a disappointing experience. Upon arrival, my friend and I were completely ignored by staff for nearly 20 minutes before receiving menus. The lack of acknowledgment and eye contact was frustrating. After waiting an additional 10 minutes to place our order, despite trying to get the staff's attention, we were still ignored by several employees. This indifference in service led us to decide to leave. It's particularly disappointing given the neighborhood's reputation for being welcoming. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place to anyone expecting even basic customer service.

A Home Away From Home Diner
The Cove feels like a home away from home for many. The servers are kind and committed to providing a nice experience. The food is a step above most other SF diners, with a big range of options from breakfast to dinner. I particularly enjoyed cobbling together sides, like three scrambled eggs, chicken breast, and the Irish soda bread that comes with the soup. Delicious!

Decades of Delicious Diner Food
I've been enjoying this neighborhood institution for decades! It's always been a friendly, welcoming space with delicious diner food. I've eaten here with friends, family, and by myself, enjoying breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you're a food snob, this isn't the place for you. But if you appreciate good old-fashioned American cuisine and generous portions, then this is a place you should definitely check out!
