Billing Confusion and Overcharge
During my visit in July 2025, I ordered two dishes at this cafe. The food cost $33, and with San Francisco's 8. 625% tax and a 15% tip I selected on the screen, the total should have been $41. However, I later realized I was charged $45. 59. Initially, the bill was handwritten for me to review. When I presented my credit card, a staff member brought a POS machine. I selected 15% tip and signed, seeing a total of $43. Xx. Upon re-examining the handwritten bill, I noticed the staff had mistakenly written the pre-tax food items as $35 instead of $33. The staff apologized for the error and returned $2 in cash, which seemed like an honest mistake and they were very nice about it. Despite this correction, the final credit card charge of $45. 59 is unexplained, as it's higher than the $43 I signed for. I question if there are uncommon charges in San Francisco and if restaurants are permitted to not inform customers about them or display them on the final bill after tax and tip.

Aggressive Service Before Seating
I was really looking forward to eating here. However, my experience was immediately soured when I asked for the bathroom. Before I could even explain I was looking for a table, I was met with an aggressive no. This initial interaction set a negative tone for my visit.

Delightful European Flavors and Warm Service
We were the first guests in last Sunday. The gentleman who ran the place was very friendly and warm, offering suggestions and letting us know what had just finished in the kitchen (Stroganoff and a pork dish). Fun Euro music played in the background. We enjoyed the Sweet cheese Pierogies, Beef Stroganoff, Cabbage Roll with Mashed Potatoes and Mushroom Sauce, and Silesian Potato Dumplings in Mushroom Sauce. It was good food on a sunny afternoon. We'd go back again. 😊

Excellent Old School Experience
My experience at this restaurant was excellent. I was very surprised by the old school charm. The food and service were both rated a perfect 5 out of 5. While it's not cheap, with prices for beers, appetizers, and dessert adding up, the overall experience was worth it. The atmosphere was also very enjoyable, rated a 4 out of 5.
